Click to call – alive & kickin’

Pranks, hacks and hoaxes aside, Click2Call seems to be alive and kicking not only at Google, but elsewhere. The Wall Street Journal reports that Microsoft and Ingenio have crafted a deal that will allow, the two companies to “place so-called pay-per-call advertisements on MSN’s search service for mobile devices.”

This is the second major announcement in less than a week related to C2C on mobiles. Yahoo last week launched a beta that will show similar ads on its mobile products in the U.S. and the United Kingdom. Google is said to be working on similar technology as well, the WSJ adds. It is quite clear that the traditional methods of web advertising are not going to work on mobiles and large players are willing to try out anything. Click2Call seems logical, but sometimes logic and reality are two different things. What do you think?
