Advance Internet: Search Engine Optimization Manager – Jersey City, NJ

Advance Internet ( ), located in Jersey City, NJ (just 20 minutes from Manhattan by PATH train), is seeking an energetic, proactive and analytically-minded person to join our marketing team. The Search Engine Optimization Manager (SEO Manager) is responsible for working within a matrix organization of helping Advance Internet’s multiple online Web sites and departments to achieve improved audience growth and improved rankings in organic/natural search results. The job includes a great deal of internal client contact and cross-team collaboration between Sales, Marketing, Editorial, Design, Technology, Project Management, Advertising Operations, Classifieds, Web site managers and Customer Service.

–Set the overall direction, strategy, standards and guidelines for SEO including continually educating and coaching department managers about SEO (including formal presentations), communicating specific SEO requirements and initiatives to those managers, and following through to assure successful execution
–Apply Top-to-bottom management of SEO campaigns including developing meta tags, improving site URL structure, supervising SEO friendly page construction, creating SEO friendly content, creating target keyword lists, building internal and external links
— Translate multiple departments and Web sites business goals into successful search engine optimization strategies
–Perform technical site analysis, competitive/keyword research, and link analysis
–Collaborate with department managers to optimize various site elements, including site structure, link popularity, copywriting, page construction, site architecture, content and keyword research
–Work with department managers and staff (with buy-in and approval from department managers) to improve site architecture for SEO and recommend content development strategies.
–Collaborate with multiple departments to feed SEO-specific findings into broader online and offline media strategy
–Work with external SEO companies to maximize SEO Web site compliance
–2+ years prior SEO and management experience is essential for this role; candidates who do not possess SEO experience will not be considered
–Specific technical web experience, such as expertise in HTML, JavaScript, and CSS, is preferred
–Understanding of user search behavior
–Basic understanding of the mechanics of how search engines work
–Basic knowledge of Web site design and development
–Familiarity with search engine trends and algorithms.
–Understanding of site analytics tools (e.g. SiteCatalyst, Hitbox, Webtrends, Visual Sciences, Omniture)
–Ability to effectively communicate with internal clients and departments, particularly in the area of explaining technical concepts to those in non-technical roles
–Must be well organized and capable of coping with changing priorities and work requirements.
–Ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects and tasks simultaneously
–Proficient in project management applications (Excel, PowerPoint, MS Project)
Experience Required:
–4-year Bachelors Degree
–Project Management experience
–Internet experience in professional setting
