Spiel Studios Signs Up Bollywood Actor Arshad Warsi For Mobile Game

Spiel Studios has bagged exclusive rights to develop and distribute mobile games based on Bollywood actor Arshad Warsi. Mohit Sureka, CEO of Spiel Studios believes that Bollywood games are becoming more and more popular.

Basically, tying up with Bollywood stars or known personalities is a way of getting through the clutter. We saw it in advertising, and we’re seeing it in games with Paradox Studios, Nazara and now Spiel. Getting exclusive rights makes good sense, else it’ll go the advertising way with some stars associating themselves with too many brands. The first game “Arshad’s Fight Club” (Quicktime Video, 673kb) looks like just another Street Fighter clone; nothing authentic about the idea. Interestingly, Spiel is looking at both at a one time download fee or pay-per-play. Is the latter a prudent move, since many people will try the game merely for the novelty factor?
