Guess we desperately needed another digital music store…Best Buy has launched a new online music store, which is powered by RealNetworks’ Rhapsody music service, which also incidentally launched a new version office software/service. As part of this launch, Best Buy also will carry and promote the SanDisk Sansa e200R Rhapsody MP3 players (SanDisk and RNWK announced their tie up last month). The service and players will both be available starting October 15
The Best Buy Digital Music Store will launch with an exclusive track from Diddy, coinciding with his new CD, Press Play, which goes on sale October 17.
Best Buy said it will throw its promotional weight behind the new service offering buyers of the SanDisk Sansa player a free two-month subscription to its music store. The subscription download service is normally priced at $14.99 a month and users can also buy individual downloads at 99 cents a song.
