The primary function of the Media Specialist is to perform the tasks necessary to edit program audio into discrete segments, encode audio into multiple audio formats, transfer audio to server(s), test and link the audio; adds graphics, text and video provided by editorial to existing web pages; responsible for creating and/or modifying, testing and linking web pages, and act as the first level of support for troubleshooting networking and application server issues on NPR.org.
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Audio, Publication, Web Site/Page Creation, or a related area. Demonstrated ability and experience with digital audio editing software: Sony Sound Forge, Dalet or equivalent audio production/editing software; demonstrated ability and experience with digital video editing software: Sony Vegas, Adobe Premiere and Final Cut Pro; experience with multi-format encoding software and codes; extreme attention to detail – all media files and formats must be checked for content as well as sound quality; one year of experience creating Web pages, proficiency using HTML, JavaScript and demonstrated ability to independently troubleshoot Web page layouts; three years experience with various computer operating systems, including Windows and Mac OS; ability to effectively work as a member of a team of diverse individuals working under tight deadline pressure; familiarity with basic TCP/IP networking, Web, application, FTP and streaming media servers and flexibility to work nonstandard business hours.
