The Cambodian government has allowed Mobitel to launch 3G services, without the video phone feature. In May, Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen had banned 3G on receiving a petition that the video phone feature would encourage pornography and infidelity; his wife had also signed it.
David Spriggs, GM at MobiTel doesn’t think the ban is effective since users can still access pornography on the Internet via 3G. He says: “At the moment what they’ve banned is video phone, and as far as we’re aware, they haven’t banned the Internet.” What if the PM of Cambodia reads his comment?
