The Economic Times: Global entertainment and media giant Viacom is close to picking up 50 per cent stake in Sahara One Media & Entertainment, an India TV network plus movie production house. The deal could be valued at about $88 million, says the report. If it goes through, this could be Viacom’s entry point to the daily soaps (through 24-hour Hindi entertainment channel Sahara One) and bollywood (through Filmy channel and movie production house). Viacom owns properties such as CBS, MTV and Paramount Pictures.
