UK MySpace Plugs First TV Show

The spate of online US TV premieres is spreading to the UK: MySpace has signed its first UK TV deal to promote the Brotherhood drama series ahead of its Oct. 9 FX channel debut. FX will broadcast 42 on-air ads to plug the show’s MySpace page, which will feature the first episode in full. Billboard ads will also promote the site and various other special features and exclusive material. It’s just the beginning of what will inevitably be a huge wave of marketing and promotion through MySpace and other social nets — see today’s other Fox-MySpace news — if users tolerate it. MySpace said other TV deals are in the pipeline, and in the US promotions have already run for shows including Nip/Tuck and The Office US, as well as the legendary Borat.
