PURPOSE OF POSITION
We are searching for a talented, energetic, team-focused Art Director for Adverting Design. This individual will be responsible for creating and/or refining creative concepts, managing multiple projects and controlling the art production pipeline in a hectic and exciting environment. S/he will organize creative resources effectively, work well with internal and external clients, and communicate with developers and other resources to set and reach company goals and objectives.
The ideal candidate will have strong organizational skills and be able to easily shift focus between design, production, and managing other artists. Qualified candidates will be technically savvy and knowledgeable of the interactive/online space with a strong design foundation and experience in the online news and information delivery space.
Art Director is expected to be able to perform hands-on design work. The design responsibilities will focus on mock-ups, product demos, usability interface testing, and ad campaign sales pitches. The development responsibilities will focus on execution of both in-house and out-sourced designs utilizing best development practices based upon industry experience. This includes Flash animation, actionscript, DHTML, CSS, JavaScript. Problem solving skills are a must.
JOB DESCRIPTION/RESPONSIBILITIES
— Developing and maintaining the visual design for advertising development projects
— Providing design leadership and direction for the ad design team
— Enforcing branding and identity style-guides
— Implementation of design best practices
— Ability to effectively communicate ideas and respond quickly to business needs
— Development of sales mock-ups / ad sales pitches
— Product/web design
— Creation of product demos
— Usability interface testing
— Maintenance of sales extranet and intranet
— Working directly with sales and product staff
— Advanced design executions utilizing flash, actionscript, DHTML, CSS and JavaScript
REQUIRED SKILLS/EDUCATION
— 5+ years experience in interactive design, focused on design and technology
— Experience creating & enforcing branding/identity style guide
— Expertise in both Mac and PC desktop Environments
— Solid understanding of web and browser technologies
— In-depth understanding of web usability principles and best practices
— Expertise with Photoshop/Illustrator. (5+ years)
— Excellent verbal and written communication skills
— Experience designing and managing templates for large scale sites
— Experience managing design teams throughout a project lifecycle
— Strong knowledge of Flash animation and ActionScript
— Strong knowledge of HTML, DHTML, JavaScript, CSS and XML
— Bachelors of Science degree
— Experience managing/leading design teams and enforcing design standards for a major brand.
GOOD TO HAVE
— Experience in the online news and information delivery space
— Experience creating designs from wire frames and written specifications
— Good understanding of print design
— Knowledge of Motion Graphics design
