Peter Jackson, the filmmaker, is working with Microsoft on a version of the Halo video game for Xbox, saying he’s bored with films and “getting more aware and more excited about games”. Jackson was talking at X06 event in Barcelona where described the project as “a new form of interactive entertainment” that blends storytelling with interactivity. He’s already executive producer at the Microsoft-owned Bungie Studios, and will launch a new interactive department at his Wingnut production company to work with Bungie Studios on the Halo project. He will work with screenwriter Fran Walsh on the project, but made clear it is not Halo 4 or a sequel to any other existing Bungie game. Release is due in 2008 and Wingnut’s new division will also develop its first original IP for Xbox 360.
