Microsoft’s Xbox 360 was launched in India on 23rd September. The Economic Times reports that the Xbox will be endorsed by Bollywood star Akshay Kumar and cricketer Yuvraj Singh. A cricket game called “Yuvraj Singh International Cricket 2007″ will be launched early next year. The Financial Express adds that the Indian market is dominated by Sony’s Playstation with around 70% marketshare, and Microsoft and Nintendo have around 15% each. India is the 31st country where the Xbox has been launched, which I think is rather low in the pecking order.
I suppose those marketshare stats will change with this launch, but the price could be a deterrant at Rs.23990 for the Xbox 360, and Rs. Rs.19990 for the Xbox 360 core system. I also found the promo that MTV developed for the Xbox in India, at YouTube, here.
