You may recall I recently purchased a Transcend 8 GB compact flash memory card for the express purpose of storing videos to play on Flash (Samsung Q1 SSD) while traveling. A lot of folks pointed out they had not had good luck playing videos from CF cards due to their slow speed which causes stuttering during video playback. I was hoping the Transcend would get past this problem due to the advertised speed of 120x, whatever that means. My experience with this experiment leads me to the conclusion that it’s not fast enough to play high resolution video without the infamous stuttering effect. It’s not a total failure for me, though. What I do is store all of the videos I’ve collected on the Transcend and then copy the video I want to watch over to the internal flash drive. This works perfectly as you’d expect and let me tell you, the Q1 is a kick-a$$ video player. I am happy to report the Transcend is very fast for moving large files and I am happy with the card even though it’s not fast enough to play video. It’s so nice having an extra 8 GB with me all the time.
