Another USB EV-DO modem, this time from AnyDATA

AnyDATA E1000Those of us using smaller computers like UMPCs that lack that important PC Card slot are probably tethering an EV-DO capable phone to them to get high speed connectivity so USB EV-DO modems have a certain appeal.  If we have to connect the phone via USB anyway we might as well be connecting a dedicated modem and get higher speeds and leave our phone free for, well, phone calls.  Portable modem maker AnyDATA has announced a solution that looks pretty decent, the ADU E1000 which in addition to the sharp blue color promises to provide up to 2.4 Mbps speeds.  For Verizon customers in the US it is also downward compatible with 1xRTT which means you can get at least better than dialup speeds even if you are not in an EV-DO covered area.  It only weighs 4 ounces so it’s not going to tip your gadget bag over either.  It looks like their site is down when this was posted so just keep trying.
