Public Interactive: IT Manager

Public Interactive (PI), a subsidiary of Public Radio International, is public broadcasting’s leading integrated application service provider, creating Web tools for over 160 affiliates that collectively operate over 300 public radio and television stations nationwide.
PI is seeking an IT Manager/Operations Manager to assume the following duties and responsibilities:
— Address and solve all IT-related problems, ensuring 24/7 availability of our service.
— Plan for robust network expansion and effectively anticipate future needs of the company.
— Ensure proper security of the network and backup of its data.
— Organize and manage all technology for the company, including VoIP phones, faxes, printer, copiers, computers, servers, switches, routers and firewalls.
Managerial competencies include effective inter-personal communications, strategic and tactical technology planning, employee supervision and personnel management, executive reporting, effective and ethical judgment, priority handling, costing and project management.
Minimum qualifications are:
— 5-10 years of hands-on experience managing Linux servers (preferably Debian).
— 3-5 years of experience with Oracle 10g or similar database server.
— 3-5 years of experience with Apache2.x and Tomcat5.x.
— Demonstrated team building, leadership and people management skills.
Experience with the following technologies preferred:
— Nagios
— NFS
— E-mail servers
— Backup systems
— NFS
— J2EE
— TCP/IP
— Kerberos / LDAP
— Cisco network gear (routers, firewalls, load balancing, enterprise switch, etc.)
— Network administrative programming (Tk, PERL, bash, shell, etc.)
