Responsible for the day-to-day hands-on technical and editorial development of the National Public Radio Intranet as well as digital media elements of NPR Communications division activities serving NPR’s stations, staff, audience, and corporate partners; identifies, generates, and produces digital media content related to internal and corporate communications, media relations and publicity.
Bachelor’s degree in English, Mass Communications, Computer Science, or Journalism. Minimum 4 years of experience in Web development, Web content production, and Web authoring software; experience with Javascript, XML, XSL, Flash, CSS, Macromedia Homesite (or equivalent Web authoring software), and Photoshop required; experience with page layout/graphic design programs including Quark Xpress preferred; superior writing, research, editing, and proofreading skills, interest in public relations, news and media organizations; attention to detail and accuracy; strong personal interaction skills; strong organizational skills; ability to work on the PC platform required; familiarity with Macintosh platforms a plus; team orientation; ability to meet a variety of short-term and long-term deadlines, handle multiple tasks, and manage multi-faceted projects; self-starter with creativity, resourcefulness and sense of humor.
