HP’s tc4400 Tablet PC gets the Intel Core 2 Duo treatment

Hp_tc4400It feels like it was a scant four months ago that HP’s tc4400 got the Intel Core Duo chip. Oh, wait: it was. That’s OK; mobile tech never stands still so it’s only fitting that the tc4400 now sports the Intel Core 2 Duo. One model spec’d out for $1,479 direct includes:

  • Intel® Core™ 2 Duo Processor T5600 1.83 GHz 667 MHz 2 MB
  • 12.1 in XGA WVA with active digitizer
  • 80 GB 5400 rpm
  • 512 MB DDR2 SDRAM
  • Microsoft Windows XP Tablet PC Edition 2005
  • 55 Wh 6-cell Lithium-Ion

HP actually has a special offer until 10/31 on a beefier model that includes double the RAM, an 8-cell battery, fingerprint reader and OneNote for $1,849 (the storage drops to 60 GB, however). Grab this one and HP throws in a wireless broadband card; sorry, the monthly service is on you. Although I see no specific mention of it, I would say this unit is definitely Vista-capable based on the specs.
