Aussie Mobile Content To Overtake Magazine Subs In 2 Years

There’s been a lot of stories in The Australian newspaper about mobile content lately, I’m not sure exactly why. This one has some interesting figures:
–“This year, Australians will spend $500 million on news, games, music, ringtones and other mobile phone content. That’s about half of what we spend on magazines.” However, magazine subscription revenues are expected to increase by 3% while the mobile content industry is expected to grow at an average 46% annually until 2009, overtaking magazines to become a AU$1.23 billion medium in less than two years.
–“According to Telstra, customers with second-generation phones pay for seven to nine pieces of content a month, but those with 3G phones will pay for about 25.”
