Gaming Hungama is Hungama.com’s latest venture – a multi-user gaming portal which allows interaction with opponents via a chat window. The games require more than one player to be playing at any time, which is problem right now (I just checked) since there are only players there. The games are free, simple. They’re small games, but I don’t see that as a problem since once people start chatting while playing, competition will drive game-play.
I played two games – Star Gaze and Top The Class. The latter had bugs: My correct answer for “Who wrote Charlie and the Chocolate Factory?” wasn’t accepted. Also, the question “what is a menu without printed prices called?” does not belong in the literary section. These need-a-fixing.
The site has reviews of PC, Console and Mobile games too, but they aren’t user generated. There are also demos and trailers of popular PC games.
Hungama would have to do something different in order to compete with, say, Yahoo! Games or Miniclip. And they are doing something different:
The points one earns from playing the games can be reedeemed for (not particularly great) gifts at the ‘Redemption Center’. From October 1st to November 30th, a God of the Games Championship is planned, with an XBox 360 up for grabs every week. The Terms and Conditions do not mention Microsoft, so it seems they’re not involved.
