– Directly supervise the production group responsible for the daily editorial and design changes, as well as the site maintenance
— Directly supervise product managers and as a team work closely with technology QA and development teams to plan and launch projects on time, on budget and on spec.
— Work closely with Edmunds Data and Editorial Teams in expanding the granularity of all aspects of existing vehicle data/content offerings and the development of new offerings.
— Interact with Sales, Advertising and Leads departments to optimize the web site and its products for revenue growth
— Establish measurable work plans and staffing for projects
— Define priorities, authority and accountability structures, determine assumptions, changes, scope control and risk for product development
— Facilitate in-depth discussions between cross-functional teams to determine the goals and scope of new features/functionality for the website; effectively manage cross-functional teams to extract information from business leaders to create the overall website functionality requirements and roadmap
— Develop an overall website product plan by function and determine necessary resources to execute
— Responsible for suggesting methods to improve online operations, processes, efficiency, and service to improve overall customer satisfaction
— Reviews project proposals to determine time frame, funding, and procedures for accomplishing projects
— Review and fine-tune specifications and requirements documentation for all product development activity
— Manage release notes and external communication of new website functionality and product roadmap
— This position reports in to the Sr. Product Director, Edmunds Media Properties
Requirements
— BS or MS
— Must have a minimum of 5-7 years experience managing product development/project management teams.
— Experience working in an editorially-driven environment, as well as exposure to working with editorial staffs on content development
— 3-5 years experience of managing data operations, data capture workflow and developing data standards is a strong plus.
— Must have experience with relational databases and managing the development cycle for data-driven projects/applications and supported data/content capture tools when applicable.
— Must have great team building and team management skills, project management skills, and solid written and oral communication skills.
— Must have proven success partnering with cross-functional business units.
— Proficient in all MS Office applications (knowledge of MS Access is a strong plus), Photoshop, MS Visio, MS Project
— Experience with Wikis and Web-based bug/task tracking applications such as TestDirector and Jira are a plus. Proficiency with SQL Nav is a plus.
— Passion, penchant, enthusiasm for everything automotive a strong plus.
