Digital Music Round-up: Goodbye eDonkey; Chungwa Buys; No iTunes Asia; UK Mobile

eDonkey bites the dust: The Record Industry Association of America is claiming another victory after eDonkey agreed a $30 million pay-off to avoid copyright infringement lawsuits from the music industry. eDonkey software will no longer be distributed and the firm will try to stop filesharing by people who already have the programme. RIAA chair and CE Mitch Bainwol said the settlement has “strengthened the footing of the legal marketplace.” Limewire, Soulseek and Warez P2P have yet to settle.
