@ CTIA: Sprint To Launch Its Own Mobile Content Networks

No wonder Sprint VP Paul Reddick mentioned this as a myth yesterday: that operators can’t be programmers. Somebody has to do an intervention, seriously.
Anyway, it has launched the “Sprint Power View” service which will offer about 25 minutes per day of made-for-mobile videos that emulate Entertainment Tonight and ESPN’s SportsCenter. Content will be stored for 24 hours for access on demand.
It has teamed with production company and talent agency IMG Media to hire “anchors” such as former tennis champ Jim Courier and sports broadcaster James Brown and has opened an NYC studio. The add-on Internet packages with unlimited use of Power View range from $15 to $25 a month.
WW: The made-for-mobile content will be available to Sprint Vision and Power Vision customers free of charge. At launch, the service will operate with a select group of handsets, but additional devices will be added to the fold, according to Sprint. Our CTIA coverage is sponsored by Bango, WapOneline and Xiam.
