Updated: TI has a board meeting at 1 PM GMT today, and will discuss restructuring of its mobile and fixed-line phone operations. Telecom Italia shares will be suspended on Monday, the company said.
The main news: Italian telco giant Telecom Italia is about to sell its mobile arm, TIM and put together its media content and broadband business, Reuters reports, in a u-turn for the company. TIM could be worth $45 billion according to analysts.
Also, these has been rampant speculation about TI chairman Marco Tronchetti Provera in talks with a content deal with News Corp. head Rupert Murdoch. There are also rumors of New Corp taking a stake in the comany.
