Sahara’s Filmy Channel Bets On Stock Exchange Game; Ties Up With MSN India

Indiantelevision.com: Sahara’s Bollywood movie channel Filmy has launched a stock exchange game where stocks of film stars can be traded. Valuations vary hourly, with hits and misses, on news and gossip, and on trading. The game launches on the 1st of October, and can be played online and on the Mobile. For online, Filmy has tied up with MSN India as its official web partner and Bollywood actor Arshad Warsi is the brand ambassador.Users will need to register, and Filmy Rs. can be redeemed for prizes.
The Hindu adds that clips featuring Warsi promoting the concept be broadcast on Filmy 20 times a day. The Business Head of Filmy is quoted as saying that the short code is 909.
Looks like an error to me – Sahara’s short code is 9090 according to Shortcode.info. The concept is interesting, but not entirely new. Since this is is a cross-media property, I wonde who feeds off who in this deal – the game looks like it will be played online at MSN India, and the results declared on TV; what sort of a revenue sharing arrangement do MSN and Filmy have? Also, what next? Will new actors have Filmy IPO’s, with valuations based on the movies they’ve signed up for and the stars they’re working with?
