Naukri.com And CareerBuilder.com Trade Links

US based CareerBuilder.com and India’s Naukri.com have announced a partnership: the two job sites will post links to each others sites, offer centralized billing to clients and streamline job posting. Careerbuilder is owned by three American newspaper companies —  Gannett Co, Tribune Company and The McClatchy.
According to the press release, Career Builder and Naukri are the largest online job sites in their respective countries – the former with “over 1.5 million jobs”, and the latter with “job postings from over 20,000 corporations.”
From what I understand of this deal, it will save clients the trouble (and also the cost?) of subscribing to the others’ services for seeking candidates. If there isn’t a saving in terms of cost, then this deal means little to clients – they could easily have registered at the other site independently. How does sharing of job postings at a (probably) lower cost help either company? Naukri gets greater visibility internationally, and CareerBuilder increases its presence in India by joining hands with Naukri, instead of competing with it.
Interestingly, CareerBuilder’s India site has a google ad from Monster India. [screencap]
