Narrowstep Broadcasts Hockey World Cup Highlights Online

In case you missed the Hockey World Cup matches on TV, two Narrowstep powered internet channels – WorldHockey TV and FieldHockey TV – allow you to view the highlights online, for free. Steve Beamont, CEO of Narrowstep Inc. says that the channels allow advertisers to directly address audiences in India and China. [via Press Release]
I just tried it, and noticed video ads for Nissan and iPod. There a few things that I didn’t like, though:

  • The site has been optimised for IE, and not Firefox or Netscape (screencap)
  • The broadcast doesn’t directly go to the World Cup highlights page – upon launch, you either get to view a video mag on hockey (in case of WorldHockey TV), or highlights from an old tournament (in case of FieldHockey TV). To get a list of the WC highlights, you have to click on a link, and then select the match.
  • As of now, the list of highlights has not been updated. The latest is India’s 3-2 loss to England, which was played on September 7th. Six matches have since been played.
  • At times, the already small viewing area is reduced in size to display an ad for Narrowstep

But it’s free, so should I be nitpicking? The World Cup is being played from September 6th to 19th, so lets see if Narrowstep makes any changes.
