@ CTIA: Some Possible Themes

This CTIA, starting this coming week in LA, will hopefully be a more rational one, but maybe that’s asking for too much. Some themes that may emerge:
Mobile advertising: This will see a lot of action, though mobile advertising in U.S. may go through a tougher consumer adoption curve than elsewhere.
Mobile search and discovery: So much needs to be done on this front and the big boys are ready to enter.
MVNO: The air out of MVNO bubble has been popped, and the sentiment has swung a bit too much on the negative side.
Off-deck: topic de-jour. Everyone wants a portal…all we get is Mobizzo vs Moviso, in U.S.
Mobile video: It is time to prick the air out of this bubble…we need handsets, rational pricing structures, content and a lot more for this to take off.
Mobile gaming: This more than any industry is going through rational restructuring…probably the most mature out of other sectors. Again, handsets and collaborative games will drive the industry.
Ringtones: Ringtones are all about real song clips. Maybe there will be a retro monotone revolution. Yeah, right.
Mobile music: It is still Apple iPod vs the rest. Full song, over-the-air download are still to expensive, and the music management is still too cumbersome, once downloaded.
Mobile social networks: Hah…mobile MySpace is the extent to which we’ve gone. That says a lot of work still needs to be done.
Mobile voice: Yes, “can you hear me now” still rule…
What say you?
