No wonder Mobile365 was silent for a while…the DC-based mobile messaging infrastructure firm Mobile365 has been acquired by enterprise and mobile infrastructure player Sybase, for about $425 million. Net of cash acquired, the value is about $400 million.
Mobile 365 had about $90 million in revenue for its fiscal year ended March 31, Sybase said. It delivers more than 3 billion messages monthly and has about 700 connections into mobile operators around the world.
This is the second mobile content related M&A Sybase has done..back in 2002, it bought Avantgo, though that was on the software side…this is on the backend side.
After the acquisition, Mobile 365 will operate as Sybase Mobile 365. Marty Beard, Sybase senior VP of corporate development and marketing, will head the subsidiary, as its president. More details in the release here.
Mobile 365 venture backers included Draper Fisher Jurvetson, Draper Atlantic Venture, 3i Technology Partners, Institutional Venture Partners, and Mayfield….Mobile365 itself was born in 2003 out of the merger of Mobileway and InphoMatch, the two mobile data infrastructure companies.
