Sprint Still Backing MVNOs

Sprint — which provides the network for a host of MVNOs — lost 31,000 wholesale subscribers in the second quarter of this year, after adding 227,000 wholesale subscribers in the first quarter. Sprint is sticking with the strategy, claiming it is too early to judge the success of MVNOs, and I agree. There could be any number of reasons for a fall in numbers, and you’d also have to compare it to the change in subscribers to network owners. This time next year the industry will have a better idea as to whether premium MVNOs can work by offering unique content and services.
