Well, nevermind if it is making any “significant revenues” or not, YouTube has finally made it that big that hiring of a CFO is making news in WSJ: it has hired Yahoo’s Treasurer Gideon Yu to join the startup as its first CFO. “It is also a sign of the year-and-a-half-old YouTube’s maturation, possibly portending preparations for deal-making or an eventual initial public offering.” That’s extrapolating it too far.
Speaking of that, we’ve also hired a CFO and he started with us earlier this week (We’ll formally announce him soon). No, it does not portend us doing an IPO, or getting bought, but it does portend managing our systems better.
