CMT — a US country music channel owned by Viacom/MTV — will promote the US debut of The Road Hammers with a self-titled mobi-series on CMT Mobile. (And can I congratulate them on finding an alternative to the trademarked “mobisode”.) “The 28-mobisode documentary follows the Canadian-based band as they struggle to find their way in the music business. CMT will showcase the unsigned, independent band on all of its digital extensions including exclusive performances, ringtones and more on CMT Loaded, CMT.com and URGE, MTV Network’s digital music service.” I think the band is Canadian, although it’s apparently also popular in Australia.
It would be interesting to know whether CMT commissioned the mobi-series or whether the band had it ready to go… these days the industry seems to prefer bands who do their own promoting.
