UK Government’s YouTube Experiment Backfires – Video Pulled After Copyright Breach

A week after the UK government thought it was being really clever posting public service videos on YouTube – one video has been pulled because it breached copyright. COI Television – which is actually another Cabinet Office division – requested that the “Transformational Government” piece be removed because it did not have online publication rights. A Cabinet Office spokesperson said the YouTube trial was a small-scale experiment: “Trials are meant to flush out a whole range of issues precisely such as these. Rights for online distribution are notoriously complex.”
