Mobile Security Specification unveiling at CTIA on September 13th

Forget all of the upcoming phones, the Mobile Security Specification might be more attention-worthy. In the works for several years, the spec will beef up the security of mobile phones and make them more tamper-resistant from a data perspective. That’s the key in my mind; when I think about all of the personal data I keep on my XV6700, is it any wonder that it’s never out of my sight? OK, perhaps the primary reason for that is really Slingbox Mobile, but data security is almost as important! ;)

Actually, it is more important, which is why the MSS and its accompanying standards are long overdue, especially in the corporate environment. How many more stories do we need to hear that sensitive data was compromised on a mobile device? What’s going to be interesting is to see if there’s any impact to the unlocked phone market…we’ll see.
