Kiloo Shapes Up For Acquisition

Danish mobile games company Kiloo has hired Karl Woods as executive VP of sales and marketing, apparently to increase the company’s brand awareness as it aims to be sold in 12-18 months. This interview with Woods gives a good idea of the difficulties “independent” games companies face. This includes distributors getting a lot of the attention for the publishers efforts — Kiloo landed the license for Lego but its distributor Hands On got a lot of press for that. Kiloo has 10+ games planned for that, but not for the brands that Lego licenses, such as Star Wars. “THQ paid something like GBP 2 million just for that one set of rights, and sewed up anything to do with Star Wars entertainment.”
Kiloo also has some Happy Tree Friends games on its site, although 18 months ago it seemed Daydream would be producing those (HTF on Daydream).
