Austin, TX-based social media startup ITaggit has raised about $1.04 million from private investors to help launch the company this fall. The investors included Mike Maples Sr., a former senior exec at Microsoft; Ted Rappaport, founder of Wireless Valley Communications; Ed Esber, former CEO of Ashton-Tate and COO at Creative Labs; Rudy Garza, managing general partner at VC firm G51 Capital; and Austin entrepreneur Steve Vandegrift.
The company, started nine months ago by David Altounian, co-founder of tablet computer maker Motion Computing, isn’t disclosing details about its plans until it releases a product.
The firm will provide Web-based services and products to help people manage their personal media, and social networking will be a significant part of its business, the company said.
