AOL has received bids of more than $766 million for its German division, a source close the negotiations has told Reuters — far higher than the $513-$577 million reported by German newswire dpa-AFX. An AOL spokeswoman said the German report was “completely wrong.” Telecom Italia, Versatel and freenet.de are among the bidders, though United Internet is believed to have pulled out to pitch for Tiscali’s German business instead.
