Spice Telecom Launches Local Language WAP Portal – ‘Kannada Kasturi’

Local content development on WAP: Spice Telecom has launched a WAP portal featuring content in Kannada called “Kannada Kasturi”, featuring ringtones, videos, animation, wallpapers, videotones and theme downloads. According to The Hindu, there’s also live astrology, song dedication, and interactive voice response. Spice has also tied up with Indiatimes for the short code services.
IndianTelevision.com adds that Times Internet Limited (TIL) is providing the content. TIL Director Sanvij Sethi said that TIL owns “almost one third of the almost 2000-3000 titles of Kannada content”. Spice CEO Navin Kaul expects subscriber base of 500,000 in Karnataka to double in the next 10 months, and increase it coverage from 80 to 150 towns and cities.
Both articles list the site as ‘Kannada Kasturi.com’, with a space between ‘Kannada’ and ‘Kasturi’.
