Telephia has released its Mobile Game rankings for Q2 2006, showing that nearly 13.5 million US mobile subscribers downloaded a game in the second quarter of 2006, representing average monthly revenues of $46.9 million for the quarter…a 63% jump since Q3 2005.
“In less than a year, average monthly mobile game revenues have increased by nearly two-thirds, from $28.7 to $46.9 million during the most recent quarter,” said Kanishka Agarwal, Vice President of New Products, Telephia. “Backed by an increasingly growing audience, both big gaming brands and new upstarts have taken a slice of that revenue pie.” Which is good news for everyone, and evidence that the mobile game market isn’t stalling.
As usual, EA Mobile topped the revenue chart with 29% of total publisher revenue for Q2 2006, followed by Namco (8.4%), Hands-On Mobile (8.2%), Glu Mobile (7.4%) and Gameloft (7.1%). Which means almost 40% of US mobile gaming revenues are outside the top 5 publishers.
