MobilePlay has signed up some new content providers for its service — some fairly big ones. They include The Onion, AccuWeather.com, washingtonpost.com, newsweek.com, slate.com, and U.S.News and World Report. Mobileplay offers the services free, supported by ads. It recently signed a deal with Opera.
MindMatics has released a “Snakes on a Plane” mobile game for the “blogosphere’s favorite film”. Maybe its big on the blog circuit, but its fairly disappointing at the box office, according to reports.
Digg has launched SMS alerts, reports Textually. “For example, if you submitted a story to digg.com and wanted to be notified of changes to the story in real time, we can do that. We can notify you when a story hits the digg homepage, anytime somebody diggs the story, anytime somebody comments on a story, or when a story is buried.”
More social stuff…Hubdog has launched a service to post to Blogger from mobile phones. Hubdog works on Windows Mobile devices and combines an RSS reader, podcast player, search engine and so on. With the new service if someone sees something they like they can click it to post onto their blog — with the info coming from the Hubdog server rather than their handset, which is smart. It’s the sort of activity people do with their PCs…
