Guide to Wireless Security: Microsoft TechNet

TechnetIf connectivity is "king", then securing that connectivity should be a royal entity too. If your wireless security is the "jester", you might want to convene your court and read "A Guide to Wireless Security" over at Microsoft’s TechNet. This article by Kathryn Tewson and Steve Riley was actually published in last year’s November TechNet issue, but I just caught wind of it via e-mail from Microsoft. Wireless security methods haven’t changed that much since late last year, so the content is still very applicable.

Do you know your WEP from your WPA? Think that by not broadcasting your SSID, you’re actually more secure? Did you know it can take only eight minutes to crack a WEP key on an 802.11b network and in just three minutes on a faster 802.11a or g environment? If you maintain or use wireless networks, give this article a browse and don’t be the wireless court jester. Having an unsecured wireless network can be a royal pain the neck.
