We’ve been sent some analysis of the US spectrum auction by Pali Capital. The graph below is of the top ten bidders after round 35 — as expected, T-Mobile is at the head of the list, spending almost half as much again as the second place bidder. T-Mobile has been hampered in its US operations by a lack of space compared to the other major carriers, and this should see it ramping up its efforts considerably.
SpectrumCo is the consortium of cable companies (Time Warner Cable, Comcast, Cox Communications and Bright House Networks) plus Sprint Nextel. MetroPCS is hoping to expand its regional coverage.

Despite the fairly active bidding on the smaller licenses the overall value of bids grew only slightly, from $12.4 billion in round 34 to $12.5 billion in round 35.
RCR News coverage is here, up to round 34.
