World Gamemaster Tournament In India

The World Gamemaster Tournament (WGT) begins in India tomorrow, on the 18th of August at Bangalore. A series of qualifying rounds will be held in Bangalore, Mumbai, Pune and Chennai, with 9 teams each qualifying for the finals in October, in Mumbai. Why not in Delhi or Kolkata? Or even Hyderabad, which has a fairly large gaming population?
Asus has been selected as the gaming hardware provider, while Intel is the official CPU platform. See the press release for details of the hardware, most of which is cutting-edge technology. Tournaments like the WGT provide the hardware and software companies to showcase their products in the most testing environs (in terms of graphics), and also allow associate gaming companies to promote their products.
Warms my heart to see Warcraft III: The Frozen Throne among the list of official games: I began playing strategy games with Warcraft II in ’96, and wore the CD out over 8 years. What really surprises me is that neither Airtel nor Indiagames took this opportunity to promote their unique broadband gaming service.
