Universal Music has signed the exclusive global digital and mobile rights to Andrew Lloyd Webber’s entire catalog, including songs from the composer/producer’s hits “The Phantom of the Opera,” “Jesus Christ Superstar,” “Evita” and “Cats.” The songs will be available online Aug. 22; many eventually will be sold as mobile realtones. The deal includes online release concurrent with the physical release of the cast album for the new London production of “Evita” — which Reuters reports already has sold more than 3.5 million pounds worth of tickets. No financials disclosed.
