New Brands In Mobile Games

Glu Mobile has partnered with Garry Kasparov to produce Kasparov Chess, “which will be available on wireless carriers worldwide beginning in early 2007″. If you’re looking for a master chess player to brand a game it’s Garry Kasparov — not only the highest ranked of all time but the most well-known. The game will offer numerous ways to play, including cross-carrier international multi-player capabilities.
“Kasparov has been closely involved with every step of the creation of the titles – from the development of the best-in-class engine to the interface and graphics,” said Jill Braff, general manager of the Americas, Glu Mobile. “Chess has been Kasparov’s life’s work, and it’s an honor to work with a living legend to create a game that will reflect his expertise and passion for chess.”
I-play has signed a deal with Warner Bros to produce a mobile game based on Martin Scorsese’s classic “Goodfellas. People start as small time hoods and have to earn both money and respect to make it all the way to Godfather status. I wonder if this will raise the ire of the same people who lobbied against Grand Theft Auto? “Money made from hijacking, gambling and heists is used to land a seat in the monthly poker game with three mobsters from the area; around the table, gamers can cheat to keep in line with their mobster credentials. Players have to avoid doing jail time, and swimming with the fishes”.
Abandon Mobile has announced the release of NBC Sports Real Golf, to launch on Cingular and other J2ME carriers. Abandon Mobile holds the exclusive global license for NBC Sports mobile games.
