TW Says Parsons Will Fulfill Contact; Report Has Parsons Running For NYC Mayor

It’s definitely August … New York mag says “it’s all but official” that Time Warner Chairman and CEO Dick Parsons will hand the company over to president and COO Jeff Bewkes and return to public service as a candidate for mayor of NYC. One option, according to “one insider,” would be remaining chairman while Bewkes becomes CEO. TW told the mag Parsons would fulfill his contract, which runs through 2008, which doesn’t seem to preclude anything; the election is in 2009. (Of course, the board could change that scenario for other reasons.) The supremely diplomatic Parsons worked for Republicans Nelson Rockefeller and Gerald Ford early on. (Via DealBook)
