Remit2India, a TimesofMoney money transferring venture, launched a promotional game called Malamaal Housie on August 11. Every time a customer transfers money, he receives 4 tokens and a personalised ticket. If the token number matches the ticket number, the system generates a winning amount. The winnings, the site claims, depend on the amount of money transferred.
The press release also quotes a spokesperson as saying that “Remit2India’s MALAMAAL Housie is poised to be this industry’s biggest multi player interactive game that promises excitement galore.” I don’t get it – if the player is competing against a script that generates random numbers, how is it multiplayer? The contest will run for a month.
