We missed this earlier: HubPages, a Berkeley, CA-based webpage publisher and blog provider, has received $2 million in first round funding. The round was led by Hummer Winblad.
I’m having a tough time trying to figure out what it does, except to figure out that it lets you develop webpages using blog-like tools, and then monetization through contextual advertising and other affiliate relationships.
Competition from anyone and everyone providing homepage/blog publishing/wiki homepage tools.
TechCrunch: The Hubpages team is founded by three ex-Microsofties…includes Paul Edmondson, Jay Reitz, and Paul Deeds. Most recently, Paul Edmondson was the Group Product Manager for MSN Entertainment, Jay Reitz was the Development Manager, and Paul Deeds was a developer in Windows Media Internet Services.
