AT&T’s Microsoft-powered U-verse is experiencing packet loss problems which show up as “little annoyances” like video stutters, pixillation, even freezes, according to LightReading. Microsoft is said to be working on the problem. One of the possible results if it remains unchecked: serious delivery problems during traffic peaks. Check the article for the tech specs and an explanation from Microsoft; AT&T wasn’t talking but a Microsoft TV Edition product manager went into detail.
Users in test-bed San Antonio contacted by LightReading have experienced some minor glitches. But if the issue isn’t dealt with before U-verse rolls out to its planned 16-20 markets by year’s end, it could be a bigger issue.
