Viacom continues its march to digital dominance … well, at least its effort to take more control over the digital future. This time, the company has formed a strategic alliance with Adobe Systems to develop and deliver online and mobile content using the Adobe Engagement Platform; the platform combines the reach of the 600-plus million installed Adobe Reader and Adobe Flash clients. Adobe becomes Viacom’s “preferred” tech provider for rich media authoring tools and interactive online video solutions. Viacom will use Flash video online and FlashCast channels for mobile delivery. Viacom plans some amorphous “entirely new applications” meshing its content with Adobe technology. No details on launch dates or financial terms. An Adobe spokeswoman told me there was no comparable deal that has been discussed publicly that could serve as a guide. Release.
