The Hindu reports that Asianet‘s news and programming will be provided on the data service suite of Reliance Mobile. Customers will be charged as per the session and not by the minute. Apart from video streaming, users will also be able to download program clips.
Ashok Ghose, Kerala circle head of Reliance Communications said that they have also tied up with Aaj Tak, CNBC, Eenaadu TV, NDTV and Times Now, and expects the use of mobile TV to grow. CNBC on the mobile sounds very promising to me.
Indiantelevision.com adds that the live streaming is currently available for Nokia 6235,Nokia 6255 and Nokia 6265 handsets, and that clips are available for download on all Java enabled phones. EFYTimes states that the clips are priced at Rs.7 to Rs.10 each, while the streaming content is priced at Rs.15 per session.
