SonyBMG has agreed to co-publish The Shroud, a multiplayer game that incorporates GPS features (more details on the game here). According to Thomas Hesse, Sony BMG’s president of global digital business: “The game is a great complement to the entertainment content we create for the mobile phone, ranging from master ringtones to full length tracks, and we’re delighted to be working with Your World Games to bring this experience to mobile consumers.” I think it’s a little odd that a music label is getting involved in publishing a game…
The Family Guy will be on mobile phones internationally following a deal between Fox Mobile Entertainment, Airborne Entertainment and Netherlands-based mobile entertainment and solutions provider Mowave. The content will include “a variety of original mobile content for the service including wallpapers, animations, ring tones, video ringers, ring back tones and community applications” and will be launched initially in the UK, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand and the Netherlands. The plan is to have a destination which operators can include in their portals.
Canadian telco Telus has signed up Fight Mobile, which will offer streaming and downloadable video as well as the normal mobile products like screensavers and ringtones. “The service also provides breaking news, editorials, interviews and Live round-by-round updates from all major fight events that make up the world of combatant sports; such as boxing, pro wrestling and mixed martial arts”.
